ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The Department of Political Science was established in the year 2014.

The Department is striving to serve the educational need in particular arts to the surrounding rural students. It has well qualified and highly dedicated faculty to mentor the students.

Political Science is a social science which deals with systems of governance, and the analysis of political activities, political thoughts, associated constitutions and political behaviour. Political science consists of many subfields such as political theory, public administration, political economy, public policy etc. The Political Science student can join M.A. Political Science, M.A. Public Administration, M.A. Public Policy, M.A. International Relations, etc for their higher education.

Political Science helps students drive their career with a multitude opportunities.

Career Opportunities: Civil Services, Political Advisors, Political Analysts, Research, Law, Legislative Assistant, Social Media Manager, Journalism, Teaching, Public Relations Representatives etc.

The college offers this course in view of the importance in recent years which is highly necessary for All India competitive exams, state government exams, banking services and for higher education examinations.

COURSE  OBJECTIVES

  • To explain the meaning of Political Science in the light of some standard definitions in terms of role of the State, functions of government and its relationship with citizens.
  • To analyse the functions and role of the executive, the legislature and the judiciary.
  • This Course intends to impart a comprehensive outlook about the nature of the Indian constitution; rights and duties of the citizens
  •  Gives information about Political Institutions of Central and State governments.
  • To understand the organisation and functions of local government.
  • Explains a detailed analysis of the functions of the statutory bodies that are incorporated in this course.
  • To Know the thoughts of various Western Political thinkers.

   COURSE OUTCOMES

               On successful completion of the course the students will be able to:

  • Understand concepts intrinsic to the study of Political Science.
  • Understand the Origin and Evolution of the concept of Constitutionalism and classification of Constitutions.
  • Acquaint themselves with the political system of the country and its emerging trends.
  • Understand the dynamics of Indian politics, challenges faced and gain a sensitive comprehension to the contributing factors.
  • Carryout the value of the works of western political thinkers.

DEPARTMENTAL MINUTES MEETING

The Departmental meeting is held in the presence of the Principal Dr. K. Malyadri in the chair. It is resolved to conduct the following academic activities for the academic year 2021-2022.

  1. Maintaining Annual Academic plan, Teaching diary & lesson plan
  2. Coverage of syllabus
  3. Conducting Assignments, Mid exams, Group Discussion, Quiz, Elocution, Bridge Course, Student seminars, Remedial coaching, Community Service Project and internships.

BEST PRACTICES

  • Government Degree College (w) Bapatla has been started in the year 2014 and there is no UGC recognition and funding. So all of our teaching staff are contributing every month for the maintenance of the college.
  • Proficiency prize is being given to the students who secured high score in the academic year results to encourage the students.
  • As a part of academic curriculum, Dept. of Political Science conducts quiz competition every year. General knowledge books and small prizes will be given to the students who performs best in quiz competition.
